Disappointing Cantaloupe from Our Garden
We have the most gorgeous cantaloupe in our garden. We’ve never had a cantaloupe crop that has done much of anything, so we’ve been floored by how prolific this crop is. Finally, this week the cantaloupe turned yellow and we eagerly harvested one. We cut into it, and it was soft and ripe. But then we tasted it: there was no sweetness.
It’s bizarre to taste a perfectly ripe cantaloupe that isn’t sweet. Apparently if cantaloupe are watered too much during the last half of their growth, the sweetness doesn’t have a chance to concentrate, leading to
our bizarre phenomenon. Although we water our garden the bare minimum, the person house sitting for us on vacation left our sprinkler on accidentally for a long time… so maybe they got overwatered then?
If you know anything about growing cantaloupe, please chime in!

This is very very sad!!!! Am sure Austin will just stick it in smoothies?
Nope, the chickens get it. It really isn’t good at all.
