Outdoor Sink Is Finished
August 23, 2012
We let the concrete counter cure for about a month before sealing it. Finally, it was time to drop in the sink! It is wonderful for grilling and also for keeping various messes outside rather than in the kitchen. Austin tapped the drain line into our gutter drainage pipe (see picture below right), which means the sink drains into the ground in the hillside above our garden. So we want to be extra careful about only using biodegradable soap and not cleaning things with harsh chemicals in it!

Outstanding!
I agree! Of course Austin sees all the things that he could tweak next time, but how are you going to learn how to make a concrete countertop without making your first one? It is so useful to have it out there while grilling, so that we don’t have to run into the kitchen as much, which gets tricky because our littlest can’t be left outside unattended for a second when the grill is hot.
Can he build us one next?
Hmmmm… I think he’s too busy backpacking!
That is fantastic! I SO want one of these – and it’s a really attractive outdoor sink, to boot.
